April 4, 2011

The Virtue Foundation Institute for Innovation and Philanthropy in Ghana launches the Ghana Jurist in Residence Program in New York, New York and the Ghana Clerkship Program in Accra, Ghana.

On April 4, 2011, Ghanaian women circuit court and magistrate court judges began a month-long intensive education and training program on problem-solving courts at the Leitner Center for International Law and Justice at Fordham Law School. As part of the Women Judges in the Pipeline Initiative, the Virtue Foundation Institute for Innovation and Philanthropy in Ghana, in collaboration with the Leitner Center and the Office of Court Administration of New York, is hosting five Ghanaian women judges selected to participate in the Ghana Jurist in Residence Program. The ultimate goal of this program is to adequately prepare these women-judge leaders to establish and implement a model Family Justice Center in Ghana under the leadership and vision of Her Ladyship Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, the first woman Chief Justice of Ghana and the highest ranking woman judicial official in Africa.
